Meet Izy–developing art for a new Flashcard

Every once in a while we get to work with an artist who is creating an illustration of a new character. This is a collaborative process involving the artist, the author, Thinking Ink, and a graphic designer. It’s fun and exciting to see a character come to life in this way.

Here’s a sneak peak at the initial sketch by Ivreese Tong for the character Izy from The Hereafter Bytes by Vincent Scott. This sketch will become a full color illustration to go with a flash fiction story from Vincent that we’ll be publishing on a postcard. That’s our Flashcard format—flash fiction paired with art on a postcard that you can send in the mail.

This project started out as a stretch reward for our Kickstarter backers, but it’s turning out so well, that after the backers get their rewards, we’re going to keep stocking postcards and they’ll be available for purchase.

Coming Soon: Lunar Cycle Book 3, Luna’s Lament

We’re happy to announce that we will be publishing the science fiction novel Luna’s Lament by David Colby. Luna’s Lament is the third book in the Lunar Cycle trilogy. Here’s a look at the cover, with gorgeous original art created by Sandi Billingsly.

The year: 2068

The place: Luna, the colony that’s waging war against the Earth.

The objective: Revenge.

Drusilla Zhao has entered into the shadowy, dangerous world of the S3TA—the Space Special Service, Transhuman Arm. Equipped with hyperadvanced technology and cybernetic augmentations, the S3TA are the Chinese-American Alliance’s trump card. But will Dru’s desire for revenge on the enemies who took everything she ever cared about blind her to the true enemy that lurks closer than she could possibly imagine?

Author David Colby combines hard science details with page-turning action and a diverse cast of characters for a unique science fiction experience that you won’t soon forget.

Thinking Ink Press is happy to announce that we will be publishing the young adult science fiction trilogy The Lunar Cycle by David Colby. We’re bringing Book 1, Debris Dreams, back into print and will subsequently publish Book 2, Shattered Sky , and Book 3, Luna’s Lament.

Debris Dreams begins in 2069 on a space station at the Earth-Sun Lagrange point L1.

Sixteen-year-old Drusilla Xao lives in the Hub, a space station used by the Chinese-American Alliance as a base to exploit the Moon’s resources.  Desperate to break free of the Alliance, a separatist group from the Moon destroys Earth’s space elevator. In a flash, Dru’s parents are dead and she is cut off from her girlfriend Sarah on Earth.

The Alliance declares war against the Moon, conscripting Dru and all the youth of the Hub. Dru is forced to become a soldier fighting in the lethal vacuum of space. Can she survive deadly space debris and terrorist attacks to find her way home to Sarah?
