For Reviewers

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to receive an advance reader copy of one of your books, how do I get one?

We provide advance reader copies (ARCs) in exchange for an honest review. Reviews can be posted on book review platforms like Goodreads, Library Thing, or StoryGraph, or you can include them in your newsletter or blog. After the book is published, you can post reviews at bookseller websites.

To request an ARC, email publicity (at) thinkinginkpress (dot) com, letting us know:

  • a little about yourself
  • which book you want to review

We can also provide a review copy after the book has been published.

Can I get a printed copy of the advance reader edition?advance uncorrected proof, shaped like a sticker

We have a limited number of paperback books available for reviewers who are unable to review digital books. If you’re requesting a paperback ARC before the book has been printed, the lead time may be as much as three or four weeks to allow enough time for print production and shipping.

To get a paperback to review, email publicity (at) thinkinginkpress (dot) com and let us know that you need a print edition. Printed ARCs are usually uncorrected proofs, so there will be changes in the final edition. ARCs are not for resale.

How can I get more information about a book, an author headshot, book cover images, and so on?

The media kit for the book includes an information sheet with the book description, available editions, and images. We’re happy to provide a download link for the media kit.

I loved the book, what else can I do to help promote it?

Aw, we’re so glad! Word of mouth is great for books, so please tell your friends! We’d  appreciate it if you’d post something supportive on social media or in your blog or newsletter if you have one. If you need images of the book or author, check the media kit. You can also sign up for our mailing list so you will be notified when we publish new books.

Where will the book be available for sale?

All major online booksellers carry our books. The book information sheet in the media kit includes a buy link you can click to find the book at retailers. Bookshop.org is another way to buy our books online and support your favorite local bookstore.

Where should I post my book review?

Please post wherever you regularly post book reviews or recommendations to your friends. In addition, posting a review on Goodreads is very helpful.

Once the book is published, you can post your review at online bookseller websites such as Amazon (instructions), Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Google Play, Kobo, and so on.

I’m new to reviewing. What should I say in my book review?

Some ideas to get started are:

  • What did you like about this book?
  • Is there something you didn’t like?
  • Was this book helpful to you in some way?
  • Would you recommend this book to others?

A book review can be just a sentence or two, or it can be longer if you have more to say.

What if I don’t love the book?

We ask that you post your honest review anyway. When a book has more reviews, even if some are negative, potential readers are more likely to give the book a chance.

How can I post a book review on Amazon?

Amazon only allows reader reviews after the book has been released. Even if you didn’t buy the book from Amazon, if they consider you to be eligible to post reviews, you’ll still be able to post your review about this book, which will help us attract more readers who’d enjoy it!

At the time this page was published, you need to have spent at least $50 in the past 12 months in order to be eligible to post a review. Here’s Amazon’s instructions for how to post reviews, with a link to current eligibility requirements.
