- pages viewed and links selected
- dates and times of visits
- referring pages or websites

We are not aware of any independent advertising pixels or Google Analytics tracking installed on our website. Shopify and services integrated with Shopify may nevertheless collect technical and interaction information as described in this policy.

Purchases from Thinking Ink
All products purchased through our online store are sold directly by Thinking Ink Press.
We use customer and order information to process the transaction, deliver the products purchased, communicate with the customer, provide support, and maintain required business and financial records.
Purchasing a product does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails. You will receive marketing email from us only when you have subscribed or otherwise authorized those communications.
Email newsletters and Mailchimp
We use Mailchimp to manage our mailing list and send email communications.
When you subscribe, Mailchimp may receive information you provide, such as your name, email address, subscription status, interests, and signup source. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in each message.
Our Shopify store is connected to Mailchimp. Shopify customer and order information may be synchronized with Mailchimp, including products purchased and purchase dates. We use this connection to maintain mailing-list records, understand whether an email campaign resulted in purchases, measure the effectiveness of our communications, and send relevant email communications. Mailchimp’s Shopify integration supports the transfer of customer and order data and ecommerce revenue attribution.
When tracking is enabled for a particular email, Mailchimp may record information such as apparent email opens and links selected. Open and click measurements may be affected by automated systems and email-client privacy features.
We do not use Mailchimp information to run advertising campaigns targeting you on unrelated websites.
Unsubscribing from marketing email will not prevent us from sending necessary communications about an order, support request, or other transaction.
Shopify and Shopify Network Intelligence
Our online store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify processes personal information to provide services such as store hosting, checkout, payment processing, security, fraud prevention, customer accounts, Shop and Shop Pay features, store search, and other ecommerce functions.
We have Shopify Network Intelligence enabled because it also supports operational Shopify features used by our store.
When Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled, Shopify may process information about your interactions with our store together with information from your interactions with other Shopify merchants and Shopify services. Shopify may use that information to provide and improve Shopify services, personalize experiences, measure interactions, prevent fraud, improve store performance, and support advertising-related services. Shopify describes Network Intelligence as using customer information with other Shopify data for product improvement, personalization, and ad targeting.
Thinking Ink does not operate cross-site targeted advertising campaigns and does not directly provide your personal information to advertising partners for the purpose of running Thinking Ink advertising campaigns. Shopify’s own processing may nevertheless include advertising-related uses as described in Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy and other applicable Shopify terms.
Under certain privacy laws, some of Shopify’s processing may be classified as a “sale,” “sharing,” or use of personal information for “targeted advertising,” even when personal information is not sold in exchange for money.
Your privacy choices regarding Shopify data use
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of processing that is legally considered:
- the sale of personal information
- the sharing of personal information
- targeted advertising based on activity across different websites or services
Shopify requires merchants using applicable Network Intelligence services to provide covered customers with an opt-out method and to link to that method from the privacy policy. You may opt out at Your Privacy Choices.
Where required by applicable law, we and Shopify also recognize an enabled Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request for the browser and device sending the signal. Shopify’s privacy settings support a data-sharing opt-out page and Global Privacy Control-related privacy choices.
An opt-out generally applies to the browser or device through which the request is submitted unless you provide additional identifying information or applicable law requires a broader result. Clearing cookies or using another browser or device may require you to submit the choice again.
Donations
Our website includes a donation form provided through Mazlo.
Donations submitted through that form are made to Independent Arts & Media, our fiscal sponsor, for the benefit of Thinking Ink Press. The fiscal sponsor receives the donated funds and distributes funds to support our work in accordance with our fiscal sponsorship arrangement.
Mazlo, the fiscal sponsor, and their payment providers may collect information such as:
- your name and contact information
- donation amount
- billing and payment information
- donation preferences
- messages or other information you submit with the donation
Thinking Ink may receive some donor information from Mazlo or the fiscal sponsor for purposes such as acknowledging donations, administering our fiscally sponsored project, maintaining records, and communicating with donors where permitted.
Mazlo and the fiscal sponsor process information under their own privacy policies and legal responsibilities. Making a donation through the Mazlo form is separate from purchasing a product directly from Thinking Ink.

Shopify publishes additional information about cookies used across its services in its Cookie Policy. Shopify’s current cookie documentation includes cookies used to store visitor privacy preferences where merchants have configured regional privacy rules.

Public reviews and other public content

Do not include information in a public submission that you do not want others to see.
Data retention

- maintain accounting, tax, and transaction records
- manage subscriptions and unsubscribe requests
- resolve disputes
- prevent fraud

- comply with legal obligations
Different types of information may be retained for different periods.
For example, we may need to retain order and transaction records after a deletion request for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes. Mailchimp may retain an unsubscribed address on a suppression list so that we do not inadvertently send additional marketing email to that address.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical measures intended to protect personal information.
No website, online transaction, storage system, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use care when sending sensitive information online and protect the credentials associated with any customer account.
International processing
Shopify, Mailchimp, and other providers may process personal information in the United States, Canada, and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate.
Privacy and data-protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live. Shopify maintains information about how it handles international transfers of personal data.

- request access to personal information we hold about you
- request correction of inaccurate information
- request deletion of certain information
- receive a copy of certain information
- withdraw consent where processing depends on consent
- unsubscribe from marketing communications
- opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising
- restrict or object to certain processing
- appeal a decision concerning a privacy request
- receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right
These rights are subject to exceptions and limitations. For example, we may retain information required for tax records, transactions, fraud prevention, legal claims, or compliance obligations.
To submit a privacy request, contact us using the information below. Please describe the request and provide enough information for us to locate the relevant records. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.
You may also use the Shopify opt-out link at Your Privacy Choices.
Shopify provides separate controls through which individuals can request deletion of certain Shopify-held information or opt out of certain advertising-related uses.
Children’s privacy
Our website and online store are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review and address the situation.
COPPA applies to websites directed to children under 13 and to other services with actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information from a child under 13.
Links and embedded services
Our website may contain links to or embedded content from other websites and services, including authors’ websites, video providers, donation services, retailers, and social platforms.
When you interact with a third-party link, form, video, or embedded service, that provider may collect information under its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites or services that we do not control.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, providers, practices, or legal obligations.
The effective date at the top of the policy indicates when it was most recently updated. When appropriate or legally required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
